August job numbers showed impressive hiring gains in nearly every sector of the economy. Nothing more than government.
The public sector added 344,000 jobs last month –including 95,000 permanent state and local jobs, 11,000 permanent federal jobs, and 238,000 population-survey jobs for government employees the second lowest unemployment rate in the country, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics.
And yet Democrats, under their latest $3 billion-plus plan to stimulate the epidemic, want to pour almost $1 billion into state and city co-sectors of the economy that need little more federal assistance.

Its plans are so wrong-headed, starting with the August figures:
All industries average: 8.5%
Banking and finance: 4.2%
Another way to describe the imbalance is that throughout the Epidemic, a business sector worker was twice as likely to face the indignity and financial difficulties of losing a job than a government employee (8.1% versus 3.5% job loss), according to BLS data. This is because most government workers have a privilege that almost no one in the private sector has: life term.
Federal employees have received a particularly sweet deal. Almost no go without a paycheck.
